The tracks on "Act Your Age" are the first studio recordings of The Above. We had been rehearsing these songs and others that would eventually appear on our debut album for the better part of a year before they were committed to record. Still in grad school, David was itching to put his studies in Music Technology to good use and get a good quality recording of our work up until that point. While not quite as polished as what would come a little later, this EP captures the sound of our young band before we had played much more than a handful of gigs.

"Act Your Age" was our way to get in people's ears. Instead of selling the EP, we used it as a promotional item to give to friends and potential tastemakers on the scene in order to reach a wider audience. If you have a physical copy of this CD, it was because we either knew and liked you or you were someone who we respected enough to get what we were all about. There weren't many of this thing pressed; maybe 100 copies? Thankfully, a few of them fell into the right hands and we were able to get some better shows both locally and out of town because of it. It was also the beginning of our close relationship with WFMU in Jersey City as a result of DJ Terre T catching one of our first sets at Magnetic Field in Brooklyn. Terre along with Joe Belock and Bill Kelly would play songs off of "Act Your Age" during the 2nd half of 2007 and into early 2008. The next year would bring a lot of improvement for us, but also a lot of changes...
